Legal operator

Inventorbook is operated by Fairfactory, a California nonprofit organization. Fairfactory is the legal steward of this educational project; Inventorbook is the project’s public identity.

Comments and moderation

Profile pages accept public comments. Every submission is held for moderation. If approved, the display name, comment text, original language, and submission date are public. Approved comments are machine translated into the site’s other languages and clearly marked as translations.

Information collected from commenters

When you submit a comment, we record your IP address; approximate city, region, country, coordinates, time zone, internet service provider, and network number derived from that IP; browser and operating-system details; selected request headers; screen and viewport size; pixel and color depth; device platform, language, hardware capacity, touch support, cookie and privacy settings; network connection estimates; time zone; accessibility and input preferences; the profile page, referring page without its query or fragment, and collection time. We also retain the result and timestamp of the CAPTCHA check. We do not store the CAPTCHA token, account passwords, cookies, authorization headers, or covert canvas, audio, font, or plugin fingerprints.

Why we use this information

We use commenter data only to review comments, investigate abuse, prevent spam, diagnose failures, and protect the site. It is not used for advertising or sold. Access to private commenter details is restricted to the password-protected moderation area.

Spam protection, location, and translation

Cloudflare Turnstile receives the information needed to verify that a submission is not automated. IPWhois receives the commenter’s IP address and returns approximate location and network information. After a moderator approves a comment, Google Vertex AI receives only the comment text and claimed language to detect its source language and produce the four other site-language versions. It does not receive the commenter’s display name, IP address, browser, device, or location data. These providers process data under their own privacy terms.

Retention and your choices

Private diagnostics, including IP address, request, device, location, and CAPTCHA data, are anonymized after 180 days. The comment, display name, language, translations, date, moderation status, and moderation history may remain as part of the public record and site operations. You can ask the operator to remove your comment or its associated private data through Fairfactory’s published contact channels.

Other website data

Inventorbook does not provide user accounts, accept payments, run advertising, or set marketing cookies. Search and filtering happen in your browser and are not submitted to us. The hosting provider may process ordinary technical logs for delivery, reliability, security, and abuse prevention.

External sources

Profile citations lead to independent websites with their own privacy practices. Opening an external source leaves this site.

Children and schools

Comments are intended for people who can understand this notice. Children should not include personal details in a display name or comment. Educators should follow their institution’s policies when students use comments or open third-party sources.
