Daniel Buhagiar co-invented FLASC, a subsea compressed-air storage system that uses pressurised seawater as a liquid piston. The mechanical installation stores surplus offshore-wind energy and can return it through a turbine, using the ocean as a heat sink rather than a separate thermal-storage unit.
