The object
Hochmair co-developed multichannel cochlear-implant electronics and electrode technology that encode sound as controlled electrical stimulation. The implanted device is a consequential manufactured assistive product: it directly stimulates the auditory nerve and has helped make cochlear implantation a scalable route to restored hearing.
