Jianhua Zhao co-developed PERC and PERL crystalline-silicon solar-cell structures at UNSW. Rear-surface passivation and localized contacts reduce recombination losses in the physical cell, improving conversion efficiency and making the architecture a consequential building block in high-volume solar-module manufacturing.
